Arthur’s jaw tightened. “Julian deserves nothing.”
“I’m not talking about Julian,” Nathaniel said. “I’m talking about the people who work under him.”
Clarissa looked down.
She had spent three years being invisible in that mansion, but she knew names Julian had forgotten. The driver whose daughter needed surgery. The receptionist who sent holiday cards. The young analyst Julian once mocked for stuttering during a presentation.
She hated Julian.
But she did not hate everyone attached to his name.
“What option?” she asked.
Nathaniel placed a file on the table.
“A controlled rescue. Vance Global and my firm acquire the stable assets. The board removes Julian permanently. Employees stay. The corrupt contracts are exposed. The charity funds are restored.”
Arthur frowned. “And Julian?”
Nathaniel’s voice became cool.
“He leaves with nothing he did not earn honestly.”
Clarissa opened the file.
On the first page was a proposed name.
