2 Morning Habits That May Harm Your Liver and Overall Health More Than You Realize

The way you start your morning can influence how you feel throughout the day. Your first drink, first meal, physical activity, and other routines can all become part of your long-term health habits.

But social media health posts sometimes make dramatic claims, such as saying that two ordinary things you do in the morning are “more toxic than alcohol” or that they can cause your liver to weaken rapidly.

That wording is misleading.

There is no good scientific evidence showing that two specific morning habits are universally more toxic to the liver than drinking alcohol. Alcohol itself is a well-established cause of liver injury, particularly when consumed heavily or regularly.

However, there are morning behaviors that can contribute to serious health problems when they become long-term habits. Some affect the liver directly, while others increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other conditions that can eventually affect liver health.
