Daniel often stood in the doorway, covering his nose with his hand, and angrily said,
“You can’t even breathe in here! How can you live like this?”
Robert lowered his head.
“I’m sorry, son. I can’t take care of myself anymore.”
“You don’t even want to do anything! All you do is eat, drink, and wait for me to do everything for you!”
Sometimes Daniel refused to enter the room even when his father desperately needed help.
At first, he had cared for Robert patiently, but in recent months, his attitude had changed dramatically.
He was ashamed of his father.
Whenever his friends visited, Daniel closed the living room door.
One day, one of his friends asked,
“Why do we never see your dad?”
Daniel twisted his face in disgust.
“Because I don’t want you to see him. He can’t even get off the couch. And the smell coming from his room is enough to make you sick.”
