Early in the morning, the whole unit gathered at the training camp.<\/p>\n
The soldiers remained perfectly aligned under a scorching sun. Absolute silence reigned. Everyone felt that something out of the ordinary was about to happen.<\/p>\n
In the middle of the courtyard there were only two people.<\/p>\n
The colonel and a young recruit named Ana.<\/p>\n
The girl had arrived in the unit just a few days earlier. She had graduated with honors from the military academy, was an exceptional shooter, completed each exercise earlier than planned, and never complained, however harsh the conditions.<\/p>\n
However, already on his second day a confrontation with the colonel emerged.<\/p>\n
During a training session, a soldier suffered a serious fall after missing a jump and violently hitting his back against the ground.<\/p>\n
The colonel ordered the exercise to continue.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will stand up alone. It\u2019s not that bad,\u201d he said coldly.<\/p>\n
But Ana left the formation and ran straight to the wounded soldier.<\/p>\n
He needs medical attention.<\/p>\n
\u201cGo back to your post immediately!\u201d cried the colonel.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst we have to help him.<\/p>\n
Dozens of soldiers heard those words.<\/p>\n
For the colonel, that response was a public humiliation. No one had ever dared to challenge his authority before all unity.<\/p>\n
A few days later he decided to teach him a lesson.<\/p>\n
He ordered all the soldiers to be reunited again in the courtyard and, when they were trained, he called Ana in front.<\/p>\n
The young woman advanced with serenity. His long dark braid almost reached his waist. Everyone knew how important it was for her to take care of her hair.<\/p>\n
Then the colonel pulled out some big scissors.<\/p>\n
A nervous murmur ran through the rows. Some immediately understood what was about to happen.<\/p>\n
Ana remained motionless.<\/p>\n
The colonel held his braid and said with a firm voice, so that everyone would hear him:<\/p>\n
\u201cThus you will learn not to challenge those who are above you.<\/p>\n
A moment later, the scissors closed their leaves.<\/p>\n
The heavy braid fell to the ground.<\/p>\n
A deep silence enveloped the entire courtyard.<\/p>\n
The colonel stared at the young woman.<\/p>\n
I was hoping to see her cry.<\/p>\n
I was hoping to see her collapse.<\/p>\n
I was hoping he’d beg forgiveness.<\/p>\n
But none of that happened.<\/p>\n
Ana didn’t even move.<\/p>\n
His face remained serene.<\/p>\n
He kept looking ahead, like nothing had happened.<\/p>\n
That unexpected calm further enraged the colonel.<\/p>\n
He took a step towards her.<\/p>\n
Do you really think you are someone special?<\/p>\n
The young woman did not respond.<\/p>\n
You are nothing but a simple recruit.<\/p>\n
Not a word.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow, without that beautiful hair, you finally look like a real soldier and not a spoiled child.<\/p>\n
An awkward murmur went through the ranks again. Many soldiers looked down, unable to hide their discomfort.<\/p>\n
But the colonel was not yet finished.<\/p>\n
You have a concept too high of yourself. Never forget what your place is.<\/p>\n
The colonel was convinced that he had the right to humiliate an innocent person. However, what Ana did immediately afterwards left the whole company completely stunned. ![\"\ud83d\ude31\"](\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/svg\/1f631.svg\")
